Reflect with us:

Today's reading is 1 Chronicles 26-29 and Psalm 127. Here's what stood out to me:

It is evident that David had carefully planned who would do what concerning the temple.

Every gate was covered by guards.

The treasurers were responsible for both finances and all the dedicated things that had been accumulating.

David listed the military divisions.

This time, verse 27:23 says David didn't take a count of the people because he had faith when the LORD said they would be as numerous as the stars in the heavens. David rested on God's promise.
David told the Israelites he had it in his heart to build the temple, a place for God's ark, but the LORD told him otherwise, so he obeyed. David was showing the people his humility and reverence for the LORD. He was setting an example that they should live out. They were to be quick to listen to the LORD and His Word and obey it. Doing so would bring them His protection and provision.

David then turned his attention to his son Solomon and told him, the LORD searches the heart; seek Him, and He will never leave you!

David gave Solomon the plans for the temple. Even down to the tiniest detail of how much things should weigh. What a loving way to set his son up for success! He concluded by telling him to be strong and courageous in building the temple...The LORD would be with him.

David led by example and generously donated precious metals and materials to the building of the temple. The people followed David's lead...and rejoiced with their whole hearts while doing it!

David humbly prayed to the LORD, recognizing His magnificence compared to his lowliness. He again confirmed that all their prosperity came from the LORD.

Solomon was anointed king, and David died a "good old age."

Psalm 127 told us that without the LORD's blessing, anything we do is for nothing. Everything is dependent on Him and on His blessing.

So how do we know what he blesses? Study His Word.
