I think it's safe to say some might read this book of the Bible and wonder its significance amongst the rest. It's filled with poetry that tells of a deep, strong bond between two people.
A traditional Jewish approach is to see a story of an image of Israel's relationship with God as it reflects on the covenant between the two.
Others believe it depicts Christ and the church.
Or it could very well just be as it sounds...a celebratory story of love between a man and a woman.
God intended a relationship between a husband and wife to be pure. That they would only be devoted to one another. It's most definitely a selfless love.
