Day 175- The Bible Recap
Day 175 | 2 Chronicles 10-12
Today's reading is 2 Chronicles 10-12. Here's what stood out to me:
In 11:4, the LORD intervenes and prevents a civil war.
All the priests were forced to leave their homes and their duties. They all moved south to be nearer to the temple and to continue what the LORD called them to do. Some of the people who had also "set their hearts to seek the LORD" joined them.
We know they remained faithful for at least 3 years.
Because Rehoboam and Israel turned their hearts away from the LORD, He allowed the king of Egypt to overtake them. Many times before we've read that He promised protection and provision if they obeyed but also punishment or chastisement if they unfaithfully chose their own way. "You have abandoned me, so I have abandoned you to the hand of Shishak."
In response, Rehoboam and the people humbled themselves and the LORD graciously chose not to destroy them but allowed them to be servants to humble their hearts.
It seems as though whatever humbling Rehoboam experienced was short lived because 12:14 said, "and he did evil, for he did not set his heart to seek the LORD."
