Reflect with us:
So glad you all have joined this journey through Scripture with me. Today's reading was Genesis 1-3. These are the things that stood out to me:
God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit were ALL part of Creation. 1:2, 1:26, 3:22
God describes all the nature based creations (plants, animals, etc.) as good but with the addition of mankind he calls it very good! 1:31 We are set apart from His other creations....I love this!
The land was watered with a mist and from the rivers before the fall. 2:9-10 I have always found this fascinating...a sight to definitely behold.
The first time I read through this it struck me that Eve was not taken back that the serpent could talk, or at least her shock and awe was not recorded. 3:2 This made me wonder did animals talk before the fall?
Sin always seems to present itself as the better option. And when we partake in it we are basically saying God our plan/path is better than yours. God knew that Adam and Eve would sin when he says "In the day you eat" not if you eat. He knew it was coming. 2:17
I have always found it interesting that Adam and Eve, after seeing everything God was capable of, felt they could hide themselves from Him. 3:8 But I'm convicted because I'm reminded He sees my sin just the same!
I wonder what the serpent looked like. From my childhood I had always envisioned a snake but because of 3:14 I think otherwise. Also 3:16 says part of woman's curse is to want to control man which is not part of God's design.
I have a spoiler alert before I leave and I won't do this very often but when I finished reading Revelation this past Sunday I just thought it was a very cool circling back around moment. In heaven the Tree of Life will return. This time it won't be cursed and it will have 12 different fruits for each month! Isn't that so cool! Revelations 22:2 And one more thing friends....the sun is out!!!!! I hope it encourages you as it did me while I was reading! I would love to hear your thoughts on today's reading!
