Reflect with us:

Good morning, friends!  Today's reading was Genesis 4-7.  Here is what stuck out to me today:

Why didn't God have regard for Cain's offering?  Was it because it wasn't his first fruits?  Or was his heart posture wrong when he brought it?  There is something definitely awry since the Lord is telling him to rule over it.  And it eventually escalates to murder. 4:4-5, 4:7, 4:9

I find it interesting that Cain is convinced he will be killed as a fugitive for killing his brother but the Lord shoots that down and says nope if that happens it will be 7 times worse for that person! 4:15

I learned quickly, as Pastor Tyler has told us, sometimes God's Word is descriptive not prescriptive. 4:19

Apparently, murder continued in the lineage of Cain 4:23

Side note, I have wondered did 800/900 years look different on a person back then?  Then in 6:3 the Lord decides it's not necessary that we live past 120 years.

Was the naming of Noah a foreshadowing of what was to come as part of God's plan? 5:29

Only evil was on the hearts on man continually ~ sounds like a very frightful place.  So much so it grieved the Lord and He regrets creating them. 6:5-6

But Noah was righteous and blameless.  He walked with the God. 6:9

God establishes the first covenant with Noah. 6:18

I have an illustration below I thought was helpful in size comparison of the ark.  Kendra and I had an opportunity to visit the Ark Encounter in Kentucky for a VBS conference.  It is expensive but I highly recommend it.  It is a very Biblical interpretation of the ark.  It was also there where I learned (and must have forgotten reading verse 7:11) that geysers came up from the Earth's crust all over the globe to add to the 40 days and nights of rain!  That's A LOT of water!!!

I love that several times in her recap Tara-Leigh mentions that nothing can thwart God's will or God's plan!  I need to hear that often friends ~ how about you?  Praying for you all!
