Reflect with us:

Today's reading was Job 10-13.  Here is what stood out to me:

Job recognizes and declares that he is the work of God's hands. 10:3  Knowing this he states, "and now you have destroyed me altogether." 10:8

Zophar also accuses Job of talking too much. 11:3 Ironically he somewhat scolds Job for thinking he can "find out the deep things of God", while he himself is wrong about God's thoughts towards Job.  He, like Bildad, also tells Job to repent. 11:14

In Chapter 12 Job begins to let his friends have it...he's had enough of their "advice".  He sarcastically calls them wise. 12:2  He tells them in his time of misfortune instead of comforting him, they looked at him with contempt...saw him as worthless. 12:5

Job tells his friends "the hand of the Lord has done this" to him. 12:9 He spends the rest of the chapter speaking to the power of God. 12:10-25

In Chapter 13 Job continues to call out his friends saying they are worthless liars and if they were truly wise they would've served him best by just remaining silent. 13:4-5

Job asserts even if God would bring about his death (which Job has asked for a few times now) he would still place his hope and trust in Him. 13:15  He ends the chapter by pleading his case to God.

I think one of the biggest things that keeps standing out to me in all these conversations is sometimes the best thing we can do for others going through difficulties is let them talk and just remain silent!  What stood out to you today?
