Reflect with us:

Today's reading was Job 17-20.  Here's what stood out to me:

Right off the bat Job admits "My spirit is broken..." 17:1 Have you ever been there before?  Man, I'm raising my hand.  Where it feels like your heart is breaking into a million pieces and it's painful to breathe?  Those are the times when you hope those around you lift you up with encouraging words.  Job most certainly didn't receive that!

Bildad eventually describes Job as being "unrighteous" and someone who "knows not God." 18:21 Again this is why it is so very important we know context of Scripture because the Lord himself describes Job way back in chapter 1 as a "blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil."

Even after Job spends several verses describing the ways he feels the Lord is against him (which we already have established is untrue) 19:6-20, even still in 19:25 he says "For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last He will stand upon the earth."

I love in the Recap it says, "Job has hope that this isn't the end of his story, even if it's the end of his life.  Job trusts God will redeem this somehow."

There are certain situations we go through where all we can do is trust God.  In those moments I find myself throughout the day whispering to myself, God you are good...You are always good.  Even when our circumstances don't feel good...He IS good!

I heard a song from Rend Collective recently called "Hallelujah Anyway".  If you get a chance listen to it.  It speaks to praising the Lord through our difficulties.
