Reflect with us:

Today's reading is Job 38-39.  Here's what stood out to me.

A few years ago I read a book with my daughter called "The Power of God's Names" by Tony Evans. It was then that I learned there was a difference between LORD and Lord. Before then I honestly don't know if I even noticed the difference in capitalization. It actually kind of blew my mind! It was so exciting to learn that LORD meant YHWH which signifies the personal/relational side of  God. From that point on I kept noticing it throughout God's Word.

Right off the bat God is reminding Job of the personal relationship He has with him. 38:1 Even though He's about to put Job in his place, He hasn't abandoned him...encouragement for all of us!

As I read through these 2 chapters I thought I've never doubted that God created the Earth and everything in it but I definitely forget about all the little intricacies detailed here! The fact that He has control over all that gives me peace in the trials of my own life.

God uses His own sarcasm with Job in 38:21 as if to say oh wait why am I telling you all these things, you were there right?  Definitely something I need to remind myself of when I begin questioning why God allows certain circumstance to unfold.  He sees the BIG picture, I see the smallest part.

God created wisdom itself 38:36 Any wisdom Job has was given to him by God.

I know Tara Leigh pointed it out in her Bible Recap but did you notice verse 39:9, "Is the wild ox willing to serve you? Will he spend the night at your manger?" Not A manger but HIS manger, THE manger.  I love this!!!

Another interesting fact from "Indescribable"..."The Pleiades mentioned in Job 38:31-32 is a star cluster of about 3,000 stars - a group of stars so big and bright they can be seen from just about anywhere on Earth without binoculars or a telescope. They are more than 2,604 miles away. And our God can hold the entire Pleiades in the palm of His hand. In fact Isaiah 40:12 says he can measure the whole UNIVERSE with just His hand."  When I read these facts about His creation it just gives me more confidence that He can handle the trials in my life!
