Reflect with us:

Today's reading is Exodus 7-9. Here's what stood out to me:

God began by reminding Moses he would be given all the tools he needed to speak to Pharaoh... because He would be with him.

When Moses turned the staff into a snake before Pharaoh. Pharaoh then had his magicians replicate it, but Moses' snake swallowed their snakes. 7:12

God then began attacking the Egyptian gods through plaques to declare He was and is the only true God! And that through His power His name would be proclaimed in all the earth. 9:16

All the water was turned to blood, not just the Nile, even water in puddles and cups! 7:19 Pharaoh's magicians could replicate the water to blood, but they couldn't reverse it. 7:22

The frogs were also everywhere...in ovens and bowls. Again the magicians followed suit but only the Lord could stop them. There were so many they were in heaps and the smell was awful.

When it came to the gnats the magicians couldn't produce and finally gave credit to the "finger of God". 8:19

Pharaoh wavered back and forth so God kept the plagues coming...death of livestock, boils, and hail. But throughout it all God protected the Israelites. It was only the livestock of the Egyptians that were killed. The boils only broke out on the Egyptians not the Israelites. Hail didn't reach Goshen were the Israelites lived.

Pharaoh gave a confession, but Moses wasn't buying it and said "I know that you do not yet fear the Lord God." 9:30
