Reflect with us:

Today's reading is Exodus 25-27. Here's what stood out to me:

25:8 said "And let them make Me a sanctuary that I may dwell in their midst." Let that sink in. The God of the Universe wanted to be with them...just like He wants to be with us. That's not something to gloss over. He crafted a way to dwell with them!

In the past God had come down in fire or a cloud. This will be a safer place for Him to be in their midst.

The materials used to make the tabernacle were given voluntarily (every man whose heart moves them) and most likely some of these materials were from the plundering of the Egyptians earlier.

I know measurements and details can become tedious to read but I love that the Lord gave them precise directions and details...there was no guessing. I believe this was both for their adoration and protection as this would be a place that housed the presence of God.

In 25:16 the testimony referred to the tablet with the ten commandments engraved on it.

One study I read said it's possible in 26:31 where it mentioned the cherubim on the curtain, that they were placed there as a warning against unauthorized entrance...much like the cherubim who barred Adam and Eve from the Tree of Life.

I thought it was fascinating that Tara Leigh pointed out in her Recap that the closer you got to the Most Holy Place (where God dwelt) the more precious the metals were. Gold inside, silver outside and bronze farthest out.
