Reflect with us:

Today's reading is Exodus 39-40. Here's what stood out to me:

Not to sound like a broken record but I love all the details the LORD provided in these chapters. It definitely helps us visualize what the elements looked like, as opposed to just saying there was a tabernacle where the people worshipped. It allows us to see this place is set apart in it's ornateness and a place worthy to host the presence of God.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this but in 39:42-42 I felt like when Moses said "they had done it; as the Lord commanded, so had they done it.", to me there sounded like there was some relief there. Like they actually obeyed and did what the LORD asked of them and as far as we know without complaining.

The tabernacle itself, and all the elements in it needed to be anointed and consecrated in order for them to be made holy. Then those who the LORD appointed as priests were also anointed and consecrated so that they could then enter the tabernacle. Once all was ready for the presence of the LORD, He came down in a cloud and His glory filled the tabernacle. When the cloud was over the tabernacle the people rested. When the cloud moved the people followed.

And that wraps up Exodus! One thing I recognized the first time around reading through the Bible was the repetition. We've seen this a little bit already. You will begin to notice God tell Moses (or other leaders we will encounter later) and then Moses (or the other leader) will actually tell the people... So you will read it twice. But pay attention to this moving forward because eventually it will clue you in to when leaders go out on their own, either without consulting the LORD or disobeying Him completely. The repetition then lack of trained me to notice the difference if that makes sense.

Anything you noticed today friends?
