Day 051- The Bible Recap
Day 051 | Leviticus 22-23
Today's reading is Leviticus 22-23. Here's what stood out to me:
Chapter 22 continued speaking of the holiness of the LORD. 22:3 made it very clear that if a priest approached the holy things in an unworthy or unreverent manner they would be "cut off from my(His) presence"...not just cut off from the people but cut off from the LORD! This was a most serious matter!
They were to give of their firstfruits and without blemish. God is holy and requires our best and even then our best doesn't come close...and that's why the sacrifice of Jesus was absolutely necessary, because it would've been impossible to follow the law perfectly.
The LORD wanted them to be set apart from other nations.
Chapter 23 described the different feasts. All of these feasts allowed for the Israelites to be in a state of remembrance of what the Lord had done and was doing. And hopefully that remembrance would lead to the celebration of the goodness of the LORD!
Several times it was mentioned not to work...I believe He wanted to remove any and all distractions so that their focus was solely on Him.
Do we take the time to reflect on His goodness in our lives? Doing so will definitely put us in a hopeful, celebratory state of mind. Have a great weekend friends!
