Day 053- The Bible Recap
Day 053 | Leviticus 26-27
Today's reading is Leviticus 26-27. Here's what stood out to me:
The LORD was graciously upfront and straightforward with the Israelites on how they could obtain blessings but also what punishments could arise if they disobeyed. There was no guessing on their part.
Promised blessings for obedience...fertile ground and abundant crops, protection from enemies (both human and beasts), confidence and bravery (five will chase one hundred, one hundred will chase ten thousand), multiply their offspring and most of all He would be their God and they His people!
On the other hand, the punishments for disobedience...disease and illness, invaders would eat their crops, enemies will rule over them, drought, beasts would be let loose on their livestock and children, pestilence, cannibalism, destruction of their worship places, scattering and destruction of land to the point of a wasteland.
Chapter 26 ends though with mercy, the ability for confession and repentance, and God remembering his covenant with them to be their God. God loves us even though we sin but He doesn't want us to remain in that sin...He always provides a way out.
While some of the punishments may seem harsh, the LORD began with promises of blessings...the ONLY requirement was obedience in Him.
Chapter 27 spoke to vows of service in the sanctuary, gifts and donations. Everyone was to play a part no matter their age.
Tithing is holy to the LORD and is giving back to Him what was already His. 27:30
And we made it through Leviticus friends! Next up Numbers. Praying for you all.
