Day 054- The Bible Recap
Day 054 | Numbers 1-2
Today's reading is Numbers 1-2. Here's what stood out to me:
The census had a couple of purposes. First it counted how many men were old enough to fight
(20 yrs-60 yrs). Without women and children the count was 603,550. But then one source I read said if we estimated women and children that number would've probably been closer to around 2 million. So the census also allowed the Israelites to see the fulfillment of God's promise to Abraham to multiple his descendants! Gen 22:17
The Levites were given the important task of setting up and tearing down the tabernacle as they travelled towards the promised land. They were responsible for transporting the furniture and elements as well. They also guarded the tabernacle from outsiders.
God's dwelling place (the tabernacle) was always placed in the center with all the various camps surrounding it. A symbolic picture that God was and still is always to be the center of our lives.
