Day 055- The Bible Recap
Day 055 | Numbers 3-4
Today's reading is Numbers 3-4. Here's what stood out to me:
The tribe of Levi was given to Aaron to assist him. 3:6
If you remember back in Exodus when the LORD spared the Israelite's firstborns during the final plague, after that all firstborn boys were dedicated to the LORD and were to eventually serve when they became of age. But in 3:12 the LORD has now chosen the Levites instead of the firstborn...possibly due to the golden calf incident.
There were three families in the tribe of Levi. Gershon was to go behind the tabernacle and care for the curtains, coverings and cords. Kohath was to go on the southside and care for the furniture. Merari was to go northside and care for the boards, bars, pillars, sockets and vessels. Everyone and everything had it's place.
The service life of a Levite was 30-50 years.
Only Aaron and his sons saw the ark and the mercy seat before they covered them. 4:15
