Day 056- The Bible Recap
Day 056 | Numbers 5-6
Today's reading is Numbers 5-6. Here's what stood out to me:
It's important to recognize that the reason for cleansing was because they were serving a holy God...as we are too. If we want to have fellowship with Him, there must be cleansing in our lives. What may sound harsh to us was actually purposeful so that disease didn't spread amongst the camps.
Verses 5-7 pointed out the importance of not only saying sorry (confession) but then also making things right (restitution).
To be honest the test for adultery was a little hard for me to understand, and at first seemed a little one-sided. But knowing God's character, I dug a little deeper to understand and found out it was put it place to allow women who were falsely accused to be exonerated...because the penalty for adultery was death.
I love that the LORD saw precious worth in the lives of women...during a time when women were definitely not treated as so in most nations.
If an man or woman wanted a closer walk with the LORD they could take the vow of the Nazirite. The vow could be taken for a certain period of time or for a lifetime. The Nazirite was not to drink alcohol, not to shave their hair, and not to touch a dead body. All these were important to help set them apart and also to help them find their joy in Christ alone.
And we end chapter 6 with Aaron's blessing which is also probably a familiar song to many of us.
