Reflect with us:

Today's reading is Numbers 8-10. Here's what stood out to me:

In order for the LORD to use His people they needed to be cleansed...including the Levites who devoted their time and talents to the LORD...none were excluded from cleansing. We all fall under the curse of sin.

The Levites were sprinkled with purifying water, shaven all over, washed their clothes/bodies and then presented their offerings. All these steps allowed them fellowship with the LORD. And then beyond fellowship it allowed them to serve the LORD. Their service was not seen as work but instead a way of life that would please the LORD.

Tara Leigh pointed out that roughly estimated it's an eleven day journey from Egypt to Canaan yet verse 9:1 said they were in their second year now. This process to the promise land was on the LORD's timing. Sometimes we struggle, I sure know I do, with wanting the LORD to hurry up the process. I'm constantly reminding myself that He's God, He's in control, and His timing is perfect!

It was mentioned before but still applied, wherever the cloud went the people followed.

Moses wasn't commanding the people where to go, God was. Are we inviting God into our decisions?

The two silver trumpets directed the different tribes as to when they should leave. They were used in war but also as a plea for the LORD to remember them. 10:9

Verses 10:29-32 were a little confusing to me. Was Moses trying to say Hobab knew the way they should take, thus going against God being their guide, or do you think he was just trying to convince his relative to stay within the group by complimenting him?

They then set out on a three day journey with the tabernacle and all the holy things in tow. And most importantly, the LORD was with them.
