Day 073- The Bible Recap
Day 073 | Deuteronomy 8-10
Today's reading is Deuteronomy 8-10. Here's what stood out to me:
Moses explained that the past 40 years in the wilderness was to humble them and see what was in their hearts. 8:2 He reminded them hunger is not only physical but spiritual... they were to live by every Word the LORD spoke.
He urged them when they entered the promise land filled with prosperity not to forget the LORD. It was not their power, might and wealth that got them there...but the LORD's! 8:17-18 Pride has a way of making us feel we deserve things.
He reminded them that when they conquer and drive out great, fortified cities it's not their righteousness that earned them the victories but rather the wickedness of the prior inhabitants that afforded them their own destruction. 9:4-5 I also think that is important to remember when we begin to feel any remorse for these nations being destroyed, God declared them wicked. He was saving His people from wickedness themselves!
Moses reminded them of their stubbornness and the stubbornness of the generation before them in hopes moving forward things would change...he brought up Horeb, the golden calf and other examples. "You have been rebellious against the LORD from the day that I knew you." 9:24
What were they to do then? Fear the LORD their God, walk in all His ways, love Him, serve the LORD God will all their heart and soul, and to keep His commandments. 10:12-13
