Reflect with us:

Today's reading is Joshua 19-21. Here's what stood out to me:

Amongst the difficult to pronounce places, I see the LORD was very precise and detail oriented concerning the Israelites and the land they were given. He gave a particular area to a particular tribe and each tribe a certain section. There was meaning and order. Another reminder that God cares about the details of our lives.

Joshua chose to let the people go first. As their leader he could have felt he deserved first choice and demanded to pick first. But he humbly waited till the allotments were made and chose a hilly, somewhat isolated area.

Again, the LORD stressed the importance of establishing the cities of refuge. The LORD is Just but also Protector.

Unlike the tribes that were given land, the Levites were given cities in the other tribes. This allowed them to scatter and minister to the people.

The LORD gave the Israelites land and rest..."Not one word of all the good promises that the LORD made to the house of Israel had failed; all came to pass." 21:45 I don't know about you, but that is so very encouraging to my heart!
