Day 090- The Bible Recap
Day 090 | Judges 3-5
Today's reading is Judges 3-5. Here's what stood out to me:
Chapter 3 began with the LORD leaving nations in amongst the Israelites to test them. Remember because of their disobedience He refused to help drive them out. Verse 6 said they were intermarrying within other nations and worshipping their gods...completely, defiantly sinning against God's commands.
Each judge in chapter 3 had a unique skill or connection that God used to accomplish His will of rescuing Israel, even the simplest trait like Ehud's left-handedness to hide his weapon. And even so, the Israelites continued reverting back to their own ways.
Each time the Israelites chose their sinful ways, the LORD allowed them to be oppressed by the nations around them.
Deborah was also chosen by God to judge Israel. I think it's significant the LORD allowed a woman to fulfill this role. He again saw worth in their wisdom and leadership. And later we see Deborah's prophesy come true when another woman, Jael, defeated Sisera with a tent pin to the head.
