Reflect with us:

Today's reading is Psalm 7, 27, 31, 34, and 52. Here's what stood out to me:

David cried out to the LORD to rescue him from his pursuers. It's interesting he mentioned a lion because scripture says the devil is a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. I Peter 5:8

David pleaded that if there was sin in his life causing this pursuit, then let them overtake him for it. Even though David was encountering many trials and tribulations on Earth, he knew ultimately that the LORD would carry him through, whether in Israel or eternity.

David was seeking the face of the LORD, as He asked him to do. While the waiting can be extremely difficult, we are to take courage as we wait. We can be confident in the One who won it all!

Tara Leigh will mention it at some point in the days ahead, but I learned the last time reading through that "to the choirmaster" designated a corporate song, which meant it applied to all people, not just the one who wrote it. So in those instances, the Psalm is speaking to all of us.

The LORD is our Rock, Deliverer, Refuge, Redeemer, Rescuer, and Savior.

Twice in chapter 31, it is mentioned that having a prideful heart or prideful speech is sinful.

The only boasting we should do is in the LORD!

Chapter 34 was filled with action statements...magnify, sought, look, taste, and see. We must be intentional about following after the LORD...these steps won't come naturally to us. It's in Him and in His Word where we find our peace.

While it seemed like evil was winning with lies and evil plots surrounding David, he acknowledged the necessity to wait on the LORD and trust in His steadfast love.
