Reflect with us:

Today's reading is Psalm 56, 120, 140-142. Here's what stood out to me:

The Psalms always remind me how important prayer is in our lives. It is crucial that we are intentional in asking for protection, wisdom, and guidance. And not only sharing with Him our requests and praises, but also our fears too.

I also think of Matthew 11:28–30, "Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest...For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light." And I Peter 5:7 says, "Casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you." This is exactly what David is doing in these Psalms. I have to remind myself often that I'm not meant to carry these heavy burdens in my life! The LORD is asking us to bring them to Him!

In 141:5, David showed intentionality and asked for the righteous around him to rebuke him if he was wrong. He received that criticism with gratitude and viewed it as beneficial for his life. This is good advice for us all.

142:3-5 spoke to the reality that people will let us down and even harm us, but it is in the LORD where we find our safe place, our refuge in the storm.
