Day 121- The Bible Recap
Day 121 | 2 Samuel 5; 1 Chronicles 11-12
Today's reading is 2 Samuel 5 and 1 Chronicles 11-12. Here's what stood out to me:
In 5:2, the Israelites recognized that even when Saul was king, it was David "who led out and brought in Israel." They understood that the LORD made David shepherd over His people.
David was 30 years old when he began to reign, and he reigned for 40 years. "And David became greater and greater, for the LORD, the God of hosts, was with him." 5:10
Twice David inquired of the LORD before he attacked the Philistines, and both times the LORD allowed his success.
David was not alone in his conquests. He was surrounded by mighty men of valor. Skilled in bows and arrows, shields, and spears. They were all of one mind...to make David king over all of Israel.
While I know ultimately the LORD was behind David's successes, the mention of these mighty men of valor leads me to believe it is so very important in our lives to have godly friends like this. That come alongside, to fight for us and defend against the enemies' attacks through prayer. I am oh so grateful for those friends in my life!
