Day 124- The Bible Recap
Day 124 | 1 Chronicles 13-16
Today's reading is 1 Chronicles 13-16. Here's what stood out to me:
David sought to retrieve the ark and bring it back to Jerusalem. It's interesting that while this endeavor would seem to be pleasing to the LORD, David didn't consult Him like he did in past conquests; instead, he consulted only with his commanders. Perhaps if he had gone to the LORD first, he would've been reminded of the proper way to transport the ark. The proper method respected the reverence and holiness of the LORD and protected the people.
While the LORD did not approve of David's multiple wives, He did include them in the account of David's life...perhaps to show how his sin continued growing into his eventual downfall?
David was successful in both conquests against the Philistines. Both times, he consulted with the LORD.
The second attempt to bring the ark back was successful because they obeyed the LORD's commands in how the ark was to be handled.
The beginning of 16 is the same as some of Psalm 105. Just some very good reminders for us all...
Tell of all His wonderous works! Let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice! Seek the LORD and His strength; seek His presence continually. For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and He is to be feared above all gods. Splendor and majesty are before Him; strength and joy are in His place. Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; for His steadfast love endures forever
